Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) aims to identify and change thoughts, assumptions, beliefs, and behaviours which cause you to feel sad, angry, depressed, anxious and other negative emotions.

This is done by rejecting the distorted thoughts and replacing them with more realistic and self-helping alternatives - thus not only helping you to feel better but also to continue to be able to deal with difficult feelings and/or situations in the future.

A number of techniques are used in order to support you to identify, challenge and change feelings, thoughts, beliefs and behaviors that might be unhelpful and unrealistic; gradually facing activities which you may have been avoiding; and trying out new and more effective ways of dealing with situations, activities and feelings.
